The Editing Scrapbook System

Over the past few years, I have worked with various YouTube video editors—some good, some bad, and some incredible. Both the editor and I have always appreciated clear communication.
How often have you tried to describe a visual idea that's crystal clear in your head, but struggled to verbalise it? This can leave your editor confused or result in a first draft that is far from what you intended.
When I was working full-time as Ali Abdaal’s YouTube Producer, I found it incredibly useful to show editors a GIF of an animation, graphic, font, etc., and explain how I'd like to recreate it in our own style for Ali's branding.
Over time, I have built out my own Notion database filled with hundreds of different assets. This allows me to quickly copy and paste a link to my editor, who can then grasp the animation I want in the video. I call this The Editing Scrapbook System, and I'm sharing this vital resource with you today, for free.
With it, you'll be able to start building your own scrapbook from scratch and create a clear mood board for the vibe you're aiming for on your channel. This template will include a couple of GIFs as examples, but feel free to delete them and make the scrapbook system your own!
