He Makes $125,000/year As A Niche YouTuber - Meet Shervin Shares, a YouTuber based in New York City, who makes $125,000 a year with only 38,000 subscribers.
He quit his software engineering job to make a full-time living from his YouTube channel despite initially earning minimal revenue. The decision was partly motivated by a GaryVee video suggesting post-graduates to chase their dreams.
To cut expenses and grow the channel's revenue, he moved back into his parents' home and worked intensively on the channel which led him to thousands of subscribers and six figures in revenue eventually.
Since this video was uploaded, he’s now gone on to grow from 38k to 80k subs in a short period of time. I highly recommend taking a look at his channel to understand his strategy on why he’s grown so quickly.
- Shervin believes that consistently creating content is more valuable than getting one-off viral videos, because he wants to grow an engaged audience that keeps returning to his content.
- Networking has been crucial for him in both growing his subscriber base and in terms of seeking help (more on that later in this newsletter), learning from others and even finding his team members such as editors and filmers.
- Shervin earns income through a combination of YouTube AdSense and affiliate marketing from product reviews on his channel, with the majority of his revenue coming from the latter.
Snow Leopard: How Legendary Writers Create A Category of One - I was recommended this book earlier this week by a multi-millionaire who said it was one of the best books he’s read (and he’s read a ton of books).
He said it's one of the best books he's read this year, particularly for learning how to make a mark online by writing or creating video content. I was so intrigued that I immediately got it on Audible and started listening. I'm already two chapters in, and guys, it's really good, so good in fact that I extended my daily walk by an extra 45 minutes just to keep listening.
The only annoying thing is that with Audiobooks it tends to go in one ear and out the other, so I may have to buy the Kindle version, highlight and take notes. Depending on how useful the rest of the book is, I may end up making a video on it on my YouTube Channel. Definitely recommend!
The Best Place To Build Your Team - YTJobs.co launched earlier this year and I have to say it has been great for both generating leads for my YouTube consulting business and also for finding talent to help with my client’s channels.
If you haven’t checked it out before, there’s a tab for talent where you can find video editors, thumbnail designers, strategists, and more. There’s a profile (here’s mine) where you can see some of the clients that each individual has worked with.
There’s a secondary tab where YouTubers post jobs that they’re hiring for which is fantastic for those of you who wish to work in the Creator Economy but aren’t sure how to get your foot in the door.
Thanks for reading, if you want to reach out to me, just send a tweet to @WhiffenYT. Have a wonderful weekend!
